Matthew Hains

Matthew Hains, Cloud & Container Security Consultant – Matthew is a Security Consultant and Architect working directly on cloud security projects and assessments with a high specialization in everything container security. Matthew has spent three years working at the forefront of container security related subjects, building from the ground up enterprise solutions for Fargate, Kubernetes distributions, registry implementations, and compliance/remediation strategies. In previous roles, he spent time as the enterprise SME (subject matter expert) of container security where he would be the point of contact for multiple specialized container SAAS providers which would include Sysdig, Aquasec, and Qualys. He would lead a team of senior developers who would be tasked with building an internal system from scratch to identify cloud asset owners and would lead the team to integrate multiple vendor tools into the enterprise across unique pipelines, registries, cloud environments, custom AMIs, and database schemas. He is an AWS Certified Solutions Architect and has spent a great deal of time building and assessing AWS environments enterprise wide for vulnerabilities and compliance issues. Matthew graduated from George Mason University in Northern Virginia where he obtained a degree in Information Security/Cyber Security – he then accepted a position as a software developer where he primarily worked in Python. His experience both coding as a developer and as a SME in the security field gives him a unique perspective on the balance between development goals and security/compliance best practices.
