AI and Privacy: Intersection of Innovation and Regulation
Presented at the Making Security a Top Priority.
Session date: | October 1, 2019 |
Session time: | 9:35 AM – 10:25 AM |
This session will use an entity-centric model approach to examine the impact of consumer privacy regulations on businesses which use artificial intelligence for automated decision-making and individual profiling. We will outline 4 key operational impacts of EU’s GDPR that every entity (e.g. data controllers and/or processors) using AI-based systems should understand. We will consider one of the key impacts – right to explanation - which requires an explanation of decisions made by AI algorithms and right to opt-out, to understand how GDPR hinders AI development and innovation. As we step through key data protection principles influencing AI, we will highlight promising privacy-preserving machine learning methods which can help develop AI-based solutions in a privacy-aware manner and generate value for both data controllers and data subjects.
Another great event that’s part of our ongoing International Summit series.
