Breakfast – The rise and fall of email security

Presented at the November Cyber Executive Forum 2023.

Session date:November 3, 2023
Session time:9:15 AM – 10:00 AM

Business email compromise (BEC) is the number one threat organisations face today – it’s a $2.4bn (£1.9bn) problem and is highly lucrative for attackers. The attacks themselves aren’t difficult to execute, but traditional email security controls still can’t detect them because of their targeted and novel nature.

As with most things in cybersecurity, the attackers are always working to be one step ahead. They’re constantly moving, adapting, and trying to evade the defences we put in place. One of the reasons it’s so critical for us to adopt new ways to manage email security in 2023 is that we are at a turning point for both the tooling and the techniques used by attackers.
Reducing risk is difficult enough, but we can stay ahead when it comes to BECs with an AI-based approach to threat detection that is also context-aware. And there has never been a more important time to take action.

Another great event that’s part of our ongoing Cyber Executive Forum series.
