Call for Volunteers

Do you have concerns about the information security profession and want to have a say in its future? Do you have ideas to make ISSA a better organization? Do you want a voice in how we operate and where we are going?

Here is your opportunity to have your voice heard. ISSA is a volunteer organization in which all programs and activities are driven by the efforts of dedicated individuals, including members of the International Board and local chapter officers who are elected to guide the organization’s efforts in specific areas. But as with the rest of our members, the elected volunteers all have full time jobs and can only do a limited amount for the organization in the time available to them. Thus they depend upon other members volunteering to lead and to staff support committees. The association encourages all members to take part in these activities. This is the only way we will get the work done.

ISSA is once again soliciting participation of members for its volunteer international committees. Why should you consider adding to your own workload by volunteering for such a committee?

  • The International committees are responsible for assisting International Board members in their efforts. As such, they have a direct impact on current activities within the Association.
  • The results of their efforts have a direct impact on public awareness of information security issues, and progress within the profession.
  • Volunteer service provides you with the opportunity to enhance your professional and leadership skills. Membership on international committees enables you to build an impressive international network of professional peer contacts.
  • Volunteer participation offers you the satisfaction of taking a personal role in the future of the Association and the information security profession.
  • Serving on an international committee will make you more informed on current issues and events.
  • Serving on an international committee provides you with a forum to have your voice heard, and to share your expertise with others.
  • Committees normally work virtually, using e-mail and conference calls. So there are no location requirements to participate. So join in and help out.

Whatever your interests and skills, we have a place for you to contribute. Contact us now! Some of the committees are just now forming, and others are already active. You can be a part of the growth of the organization and have your voice heard. Contact the Committee Chair directly, or contact the Chapter Coordinator at chapter@issa.org, and volunteer to be a part of a committee. Make your voice heard. Volunteer now!
